Shuttle Racking
Shuttle racking is a semi-automated, high-density pallet storage system. A battery-powered shuttle runs on dedicated rails inside deep storage lanes, moving pallets to the next available position with a handheld remote or WMS integration. Forklifts only operate at the lane entry, significantly reducing aisle requirements, travel time, and handling cycles while improving throughput and operator safety. Ideal for fast-moving batch SKUs and cold storage environments.
Why Choose Shuttle Racking System?
High-density deep-lane storage
Deep storage lanes (typically 5–50 pallets) maximize capacity with fewer aisles and high utilisation.
Reduced aisle requirement
Deep-lane shuttle storage reduces aisle count, increasing pallet positions per square foot.
Automated pallet movement
The shuttle moves pallets inside the lane, reducing forklift travel and increasing throughput.
Compatible with standard forklifts
No deep-reach equipment is required; the shuttle delivers pallets to the aisle face for safe picking.
| Lane Depth | Approx. Lane Length | Bay Width | Rack Height | Shuttle Weight | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 10 pallets | ~12 m | 2.4 m | Up to 12 m | 95 kg | Standard deep-lane configuration |
| 20 pallets | ~24 m | 2.4 m | Up to 12 m | 95 kg | Standard deep-lane configuration |
| 30 pallets | ~36 m | 2.4 m | Up to 12 m | 95 kg | Standard deep-lane configuration |
| 40 pallets | ~48 m | 2.4 m | Up to 12 m | 95 kg | Standard deep-lane configuration |

How It Works
1.
Place Shuttle in Lane
Forklift positions the pallet shuttle on the rails at the lane entrance and selects the storage lane/depth.
2.
Load Pallet onto Shuttle
Forklift places the pallet onto the shuttle at the lane entrance before automated positioning in the rack.
3.
Shuttle Stores Pallet in Lane
The shuttle transports the pallet to the next available position and deposits it safely on the rack rails.
4.
Shuttle Retrieves Pallet to Pick Face
The shuttle brings pallets to the lane entrance so standard forklifts can lift out the pallet quickly and safely.
